Paul Stuart's Phineas Cole
|
| Founded in 1938, Paul Stuart has stuck steadfastly with the classics. Still, every seven decades or so, it's healthy to try a little something new. The classic luxury men's clothier, though, doesn't just dive in with both feet, of course. Instead, last month in New York, it introduced its new Phineas Cole collection in a conspicuously conservative manner, making just 20 or less of each piece produced. If that's not selective and individualized enough for you, each item has a saying embroidered in it, like "it's not a crime to be well dressed." The collection has been a “passion project” for Paul Stuart’s CEO, Clifford Grodd, who conceived the character Phineas Cole as the rakish “errant nephew” of Paul Stuart and "the epitome of the Anglo-International persona." The new limited edition is geared towards a younger, leaner physique and a more modern, whimsical look than other Stuart fare -- clean lines and sleek silhouettes. Prices range from $1384 to $2384 for suits, $186 to $295 for shirts, $344 to $424 for odd trousers, $1284 to $1684 for sports jackets, $258 to $897 for sportswear, $697 to $1484 for outerwear, and $107 to $170 for neckwear.
